Water tastes different out of copper. Not dramatically so, just softer and rounder than water poured from a plastic jug that has been sitting in the fridge.

Keeping drinking water in copper vessels is an old habit rooted in Ayurvedic tradition, where a vessel is filled in the evening and poured from through the following day. This dispenser is made for that kind of routine. Fill it once, leave it out on the counter, and take a glass whenever you walk past.

The tap on the front does a lot of the work. No lifting a full jug, no pouring with two hands, and easy enough that children can help themselves without a spill.

It also looks like something you want on display, which is really why it stays out. A jug you like the look of is a jug you actually drink from, and most people find they get through more water simply because it is sitting there.

Copper changes appearance over time as it is used. That is normal for the material. A wipe with lemon and salt brings the shine back if you prefer it that way, or you can leave it alone and let it settle into its own patina.

Rinse it out regularly, give it a proper clean now and then, and it will keep going for years.
